The Math Movement

Building community to expand educational opportunities

Our Vision
A social movement is a group of people who get together because they want to change something about their society.

We want to change the way math is taught in our country. We want math to be focused on finding beauty in our lives, as well as fostering creativity and flexibility of mind.

The habits of mind that we cultivate for solving mathematical problems can be focused on solving social problems. In doing so, we want to change the way we treat kids, the way we treat each other, and the racial inequality we have come to accept in our country. One of our main motivations is wanting to do something about how separate and unequal our K-12 education system remains.

Our primary activity is running summer camps for middle and high school students in a university setting.
